An independent game
Daily Farflung takes inspiration from the daily geography puzzle format. It is not the original Farflung game and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by Farflung.game. Our code, question rules and editorial answer sets are independently maintained.
What you can play
Each published daily edition contains five map questions. The current release includes 1,540 daily questions across 308 editions, dated 20 October 2026 to 23 August 2027, plus one repeatable practice question. English and Spanish share the same edition, answers and save. New editions are prepared offline and open on their scheduled UTC date.
How questions are prepared
We write a clue rule or a factual country list, calculate the complete accepted set against the game’s country entries, and publish a fixed edition containing the question, explanation, sources and reward tiers. Published editions keep their original question order and scores.
Country-name clues use fixed English names. Regional clues use the United Nations M49 classification where specified. Other fact clues state their relevant date or membership boundary. The game does not request questions from Farflung.game or generate them with an AI call while you play.
How rewards work
Correct countries receive one of five preset distance rewards. Population rank within that question’s answer set determines the initial tier: smaller populations tend to receive higher rewards. These tiers are an editorial game rule, not a claim about how often real players choose each country.
Map and naming conventions
The chart uses independently sourced Natural Earth data. The game’s 197 selectable entries include United Nations members, its two observer states, Kosovo and Taiwan. Dependencies generally map to a parent entry. This is a gameplay convention, not a statement about recognition or disputed boundaries.
The pixel globe and chart images are drawn from our local map data. The VT323 font is distributed with its SIL Open Font License. Dataset versions and geographic detail have limits; the map and population estimates are not live feeds.
