Map and globe

The chart is based on Natural Earth 1:50m Admin 0 Countries, release 5.1.2, prepared independently for this game. Its 241 map features are mapped to 197 selectable game entries. Antarctica is omitted. Natural Earth data is in the public domain.

The chart, globe texture and poster are our own renderings of this dataset. Coastline detail, small-island visibility and border representation reflect the source scale and preparation. The game’s conventions do not determine international recognition.

Country-name and regional clues

Name clues are evaluated against the game’s fixed English names. The clue details state how spaces, accents, letters and vowels are treated. A translated interface does not change a name clue’s answer rule.

Where a clue refers to a United Nations region, it uses the M49 statistical classification, restricted to selectable game entries. Cultural or political definitions of a region may differ; the question tells you which definition it uses.

Fact sources and published answers

Fact clues identify the relevant list, membership or historical date. Each published question includes an explanation and source links, shown in feedback or the completed review. Past-edition pages preserve those explanations and links after the UTC date ends.

We calculate answer sets from our own clue rules or curated country lists and freeze them at publication. These are Daily Farflung’s editions; they are not copied from Farflung.game and should not be used as answers to its separate puzzles.

Country fact snapshots

GeoNames country information, retrieved on 20 October 2026, supplies listed areas, continent classifications, neighbouring entries and spoken-language tags under CC BY 4.0. We normalize these fields to the game’s selectable entries. Listed languages do not imply official status or a complete language census; areas and neighbours follow the source’s territory conventions.

World Bank country metadata is a separate 20 October 2026 snapshot. Its operational regions and income categories are source classifications; its approximate location fields are not whole-country boundaries or independently verified capital coordinates. Population clues use Natural Earth v5.1.2 estimates, mostly from about 2019. Clue details state which source and field applies.

Reward tiers

Initial tiers use the Natural Earth population estimate field to rank accepted countries within each question. This is a fixed game heuristic, not a live population estimate or measured player familiarity. Larger populations tend to receive lower rewards, and smaller populations higher rewards. Published tiers remain fixed so saved scores stay comparable.
