Country-name clues
Use the fixed English country names displayed by the game. Clue details states how letters, accents, punctuation and words are counted. Most name rules ignore case and accents and count A–Z letters. Spaces and punctuation do not add letters.
A word condition is different from a letter condition. Space-separated words count individually; a hyphen stays inside a word. A whole-word condition is not satisfied by finding those letters inside a longer word. When a clue specifies vowels, check its definition rather than assuming Y is included. All conditions in the clue must hold at once.
UN M49 region clues
A clue naming a United Nations region uses the UN M49 statistical classification and only the game's selectable countries. Everyday, cultural and political meanings of a region can differ from this classification. Read Clue details to see which grouping applies.
UN M49 regions, GeoNames continents and World Bank operational regions are separate systems. An entry's placement in one system does not automatically determine its placement in another.
Fact and source-based clues
Membership and history clues specify a relevant list, date or boundary. Founding members and current members are different answer sets. Land neighbours and nearby countries across water are different conditions. Read the question's qualification before choosing.
GeoNames clues use our stored country-information snapshot for fields such as listed area, neighbours and spoken-language tags. A listed language does not necessarily have official status, and the tags are not a complete language census. World Bank region and income labels follow that source's classifications. Approximate location fields do not describe a country's entire territory.
Population-based clues and initial rewards use Natural Earth estimates rather than a live census. Each question's note and sources identify the field or classification that matters. The explanation and complete accepted set become available in the finished review.
Choose, locate, then submit
You need one accepted country for each question. Search helps locate a country; it does not tell you whether that country satisfies the clue. Selecting a search result highlights it without submitting. Press Drop pin when you are ready, and remember that searching does not pause the timer.
After feedback, compare the explanation with the rule you used. A higher reward comes from that question's preset tiers, so remembering a country's previous reward is not a substitute for checking whether it fits the next clue.
